With a helper in the driver seat and the combination safely parked, check tail or marker, left turn, right turn, brake, reverse and any other equipped or required functions. Confirm the tow vehicle recognizes a connected trailer when its manual describes that behavior. After service, repeat the owner-level pre-trip inspection and verify that no new interference, loose wiring or load shift was introduced.
